L’8 settembre è una data importante per la realtà locale in cui opera Paoletti Guitars: è il giorno della natività di Maria, anche nota come Madonna della Fiera o della Cintola e tutta la città di Prato è in festa. Secondo la tradizione, la reliquia della sacra “cintola” (cintura) di Maria pervenne presso la Cattedrale di Santo Stefano alla fine del XII secolo, divenendo presto simbolo dell’indipendenza cittadina.
Ancora oggi, ogni anno, dopo il corteo storico e prima del grande spettacolo di fuochi d’artificio, il Vescovo mostra la reliquia alla cittadinanza dal pulpito della Cattedrale.
Fabrizio Paoletti ha voluto fare qualcosa di speciale per ringraziare la città di Prato per le opportunità e l’ispirazione ricevute e per valorizzare la storia e le tradizioni che sono sempre state di massima importanza nel suo percorso, così ha creato una chitarra dedicata a questa cara festività.
Gli intarsi della chitarra – in madreperla – rappresentano una scena tratta delle vetrate realizzate per la Basilica di Santa Maria Novella, a Firenze, da Domenico Ghirlandaio e bottega, raffigurante la Vergine Maria che dona la sua cintura a San Tommaso.
Secondo lo spirito di questa celebrazione, questo pezzo di inestimabile valore è stato donato alla Diocesi di Prato e ora è conservato nei Musei Diocesani.

September 8th is an important date for Paoletti Guitars’ District – it is Virgin Mary Fair day and the whole town of Prato (Tuscany, Italy) is celebrating. Tradition has it that Saint Stephen’s Cathedral was donated Saint Mary’s belt relic at the end of the XII Century and it became emblem of the independence of the town.
To the present day, every year, after the historic parade and before the night sky is enlightened by plenty of colorful fireworks, the Bishop shows the relic to the citizenry from the pulpit of the Cathedral.
Fabrizio Paoletti wanted to do something special to thank the town of Prato for the opportunities and inspiration received and to value the history and traditions that have always been of utmost importance in his journey, so he created a guitar dedicated to this beloved celebration.
The guitar inlays – in mother of pearl – feature one of the glass window pictures crafted for the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, in Florence, by Domenico Ghirlandaio and his assistants, depicting Virgin Mary handing over her belt to Saint Thomas.
In accordance with the spirit of this celebration, this priceless piece was donated to the Church of Prato and now it is kept in the diocese museum.
