Guitar World, one of the most authoritative international publications in the world of guitar, has published an exclusive feature on The Eye of Florence, an art collection of eight one-of-a-kind electric guitars handcrafted by Fabrizio Paoletti and inspired by the eight stained-glass oculi crowning Brunelleschi’s Dome at the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence.
The editorial explores the creative journey behind the collection, the years of work alongside the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore, and the craftsmanship behind each instrument: nearly six thousand hand-cut Venetian mother-of-pearl tiles, a body carved from centuries-old chestnut, and an authentic fragment of marble from the Cathedral itself, embedded in the back of every guitar. The project has been officially recorded in the Cathedral’s historical archives, alongside the names of Renaissance masters such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.
The project is developed in partnership with Art of Guitar, who exclusively handle the collection’s acquisitions worldwide, one of the most respected names in the international premium guitar community and consistently ranked among the top one hundred dealers on the NAMM world list.
