Sister Island is a charity project based in the north of Zanzibar, Tanzania, supporting local communities by fostering both educational and economic opportunities. It started with a nursery for 34 children in a rented space and, thanks to the support of donors, it has now expanded to nearly 300 children in a newly built school. The project provides meals, medical care, uniforms, and school supplies, while also facilitating water provision and socio-economic development through community gardens, small-scale farming, and sewing courses for local women. There’s a swimming and water safety course for children too, dedicated to Bakari, who drowned in 2022. Since 2023, a primary school has been operational for children up to 12 years old, with more projects underway.

The upcoming Marco Polo Exclusive Event in Venice – Italy presents a unique opportunity for someone special to make a difference. One of the few remaining 10-piece limited edition guitars available, being sold at the event will have its profits donated to Sister Island. The charity project aims to provide a new school bus for children to reach school, and the owner of the guitar will have their name acknowledged on the bus, recognizing their devotion to the cause.
