To coincide the 700th Anniversary of the death of Venetian explorer Marco Polo, Paoletti Guitars hereby announce this two-year project, due for completion in 2024, celebrates and commemorates the epic voyage along the Silk Road through Asia of one of Italy’s most important historic figures.
In 1271 Marco Polo departed Venice and travel to China, where he was received to the court of Kublai Khan. His journey through Asia lasted three and a half years.
Paoletti Guitars commemorates the 700th anniversary of the death of Marco Polo (1254-1324) in the occasion of his historical journey.
The guitars, made out of centenarian Italian chestnut woods from reclaimed wine barrels (120 Year old woods), features authentic Venetian mother of pearl inlays, made of up to 3000 small pieces creating the final artwork, that re-creates the original miniature contained in the medieval code. A selection of only 10 Limited Edition will be individually handcrafted by Mr.Paoletti Fabrizio. The addition of 24k gold-plated hardware serves as the crowning touch, elevating the guitars to a level of luxury and elegance befitting their limited edition status.
In our pursuit of perfection, we have collaborated with master artisans to design a case that showcases the same level of artistry and attention to detail as the guitars themselves. The marriage of luxurious glass and the rich warmth of walnut creates a captivating visual juxtaposition, further elevating the overall aesthetic appeal.
The exquisite glass panels of the case provide a glimpse into the guitar’s splendor, allowing its magnificence to shine through even when it is securely protected. The transparency of the glass showcases the instrument as a true work of art, making a bold statement about the impeccable craftsmanship that lies within. To complement the elegant glass, the case features meticulously handcrafted walnut accents, adding a touch of organic warmth and sophistication.
THE RELEASE & PRESENTATION EVENT
The project will culminate in a celebratory event hosted by Paoletti Guitars in May 2024 in Venice, in which every future owner of a Marco Polo will be invited to attend to be presented with their guitar. The grand celebration will be hosted at the esteemed Scuola di San Giovanni Evangelista, a place deeply rooted in Venice’s cultural heritage. This magnificent location, known for its rich history and architectural splendor, serves as a befitting backdrop to honor the life and adventures of Marco Polo.
