In the spirit of celebrating Lyon & Healy‘s remarkable 160-year legacy, Paoletti Guitars is thrilled to unveil a special commemorative guitar at the 2024 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. This collaborative effort represents a fusion of time-honored craftsmanship and contemporary design, paying homage to Lyon & Healy’s inaugural classical guitar while infusing it with a modern touch envisioned by Fabrizio Paoletti.
Historical Inspiration
Lyon & Healy, a company steeped in musical history since its inception in the mid-19th Century, requested Paoletti Guitars to craft a guitar honoring their very first classical guitar. This request is part of Lyon & Healy’s 160th-anniversary celebrations, prompting a thoughtful reflection on how their iconic instrument would have evolved if conceived today.
Fabrizio Paoletti’s Vision
Guided by Fabrizio Paoletti‘s innovative vision, the collaborative project aims to reimagine Lyon & Healy’s classical guitar for the modern era. The challenge lies in capturing the essence of the original instrument while incorporating contemporary elements that reflect the craftsmanship and style associated with Paoletti Guitars.
Craftsmanship Beyond Boundaries
Paoletti Guitars brings a distinct touch to the Lyon & Healy 160th Anniversary Commemorative Guitar. Starting from a Hollow Body wooden structure, it features iconic handcrafted components predominantly made of nickel finished brass, showcasing the dedication to detail that defines Paoletti’s instruments. The body top, framed inside an Ebony binding, is made of premium Canadian Curly Maple, echoing the timeless beauty of Lyon & Healy’s creations. For the electronics and hardware the builders have chosen a set of vintage sounding pickups, controlled by the iconic Paoletti shotgun shell knobs.
The neck is made of Canadian Maple, roasted in our facility, with an ebony fretboard on top. The new 3+3 Headstock confers a unique identity and look.
Full Hollow Body Excellence
Staying true to the classic design of Lyon & Healy’s first guitar, the commemorative instrument features a full hollow chestnut wood body. This design not only pays homage to the roots of Lyon & Healy but also enhances the resonance and tonal quality of the guitar, making it a true delight for musicians and enthusiasts alike.
Paoletti Guitars opted for Roasted Maple, combining aesthetic appeal with structural integrity.
