Kuddel

Born on June 11, 1964 in Münster and raised in Düsseldorf’s Derendorf district, Andreas von Holst, better known as “Kuddel,” discovered the guitar as a teenager. Being left-handed was his first challenge, long before lefty instruments were easy to find. That persistence became part of his story: turning obstacles into a style all his own.

In 1980 he joined the punk band ZK, where he met Campino, leading to the founding of Die Toten Hosen in 1982. As one of the band’s original guitarists, Kuddel quickly stood out with raw energy, melodic instinct, and an ear for crafting songs that went far beyond basic punk riffs.

From the chaos of the early days to international acclaim, Kuddel’s playing has been central to Die Toten Hosen’s rise. Albums like Opel-Gang (1983), Ein kleines bisschen Horrorschau (1988), Kauf MICH! (1993), Opium fürs Volk (1996), and Ballast der Republik (2012) became milestones of German rock, pushing the band from underground rebellion to chart-topping influence across Europe and Latin America.

Through challenges on and off stage, Kuddel has remained loyal to his roots—returning to Düsseldorf in 2016. His story reflects the same qualities that define his music: authentic, resilient, and unmistakably one-of-a-kind.

Spot him on stage with his new Paoletti 500 Lounge HH, a striking instrument with a vibrant red finish and a unique engraving on the Paoletti OEM brass tailpiece. A bold guitar with a thrilling touch — perfectly echoing Kuddel’s music and presence.
